Farmer commits “suicide” in Faridpur

FARIDPUR: A farmer allegedly committed suicide in Tuzarpur village under Bhanga upazila of the district on Saturday as he failed to meet the daily needs of the family due to illness.

The deceased was identified as Rikat Khan, 38, son of late Kanchon Khan of the village.

Family sources said the farmer was passing days in a great paucity of wealth with four children and his wife as he was unable to work due to his sickness.

He was also getting no medical treatment due to lack of money, according to the sources.

Rikat’s brother Zinnat Khan said, “His brother was killed by himself hanging with rope from ceiling inside the kitchen sometime in Friday late night. Family members found him hanging in the morning.”

Bhanga Thana Officer-In-Charge Nazmul Islam told banglanews: “On information, police recovered the hanging body. He might have committed suicide for want of the family and sickness.”

The body was sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital morgue.

A case was filed with Bhanga Thana in this connection, the OC added.
