BAGERHAT: At least seven people were killed and 30 others injured in a road accident in Tayab Ali Battal area under Fakirhat upazila of the district on Saturday evening.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Witnesses said a rashly driven microbus collided head-on with a passenger bus in the area around 6:20 pm, leaving seven people dead and 30 others injured.

Amwar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Fakirhat Police Station, told banglanews that, on information, Bagerhat Highway Police, Fakirhat police unit and Bagerhat Fire Services and Civil Defense unit rushed in and jointly trying to rescue the injured.

The injured were rushed to the Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex and Khulna Medical College Hospital.

The road communications of Bagerhat, Khulna and Pirojpur to Dhaka route halted till 7:00pm due to the accident, the OC added.
