RANGAMATI: At least three people, including a teenager, were killed as lightning struck them in Beganachhari village under Barakal upazila of the district on Sunday evening.     

The deceased were identified as Ripek Chakma, 13, Shanti Bijoy Chakma, 25 and Sunil Chakma, 23.   

Police super Amena Begum confirmed the incident to banglanews.                                                                                         

Barakal Thana Officer-in-Charge Abdul Karim said, “At least 16 people were injured critically by the lightning while they were reaping paddy at that remote village.”  

Of the injured, three persons died on way to hospital in the evening, he added.
