DHAKA: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), henceforth, will no longer set up checkpoints on the streets to carry out stop and search.
ATM Habibur Rahman, legal and media wing commander of RAB, confirmed the matter to banglanews.
He also said, “RAB members used to perform some additional tasks apart from their primary tasks but henceforth they won’t participate in any extra tasks after the order from director general.”
RAB came into existence in 2004 during the BNP-led alliance government’s tenure to combat domestic crimes and terrorism.
