NILPHAMARI: At least four people were killed and six others injured in a road accident on Saidpur-Rangpur highway in Chikli Bazar area of Saidpur upazila of the district on Monday night.

The deceased were identified as Shahidul Islam, 30, son of Umar Farukh of Hatikhana Mahalla and Sagor, 28, son of Nusrat Ali of Mohallla of the upazila. Identities of two others have not been known yet.

The injured are Osman Ali, 40, and Ershad Hossain, 20 while details of the other could not be known immediately.

Witnesses said, “A Saidpur-bound pick up van (Dhaka Metro-N 11-1689), carrying passengers from Rangpur, collided with a stone loaded-truck (Dhaka Metro 11-3148) on the highway in the area at 10:00pm on Friday, leaving three people dead on the spot.

The injured were rushed Saidpur 100-bed Hospital where one succumbed to his injuries.

Of the injured, two were shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for higher treatment.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Saidpur thana Officer-In-Charge Sahidar Rahman said, policed recovered the bodies and cleared the road.
