DHAKA: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also ruling Awami League president, on Wednesday expressed hope that good relations with India would continue.
“Good relations between Bangladesh and India will continue during the tenure of India’s newly elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” she said.
The premier came up with the observation while talking to local media at the National Press Club in Japan in the morning.
She added: “Problems with neighboring countries including India can be solved through bilateral discussions.”
Bangladesh PM expected that Modi as the Prime Minister of India would maintain good ties with their neighboring countries.
Earlier on Saturday, Bangladesh PM left the country to Japan for a four-day visit.
During her visit, she met Japan’s emperor, prime minister and business communities. She also addressed an audience at Waseda University in Japan.
A 44-member visiting team, including foreign minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali, state minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam, ambassador-at-large M Ziauddin and Sheikh Hasina’s information affairs advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury accompanied the PM.
