Dhaka: Akramul Qader, Bangladesh Ambassador to US, was hosted a farewell arranged by the Department of State on Wednesday.
US Chief of Protocol Ambassador Peter Selfridge hosted a farewell reception which was held in at the James Monroe Room in the Department of State, said an official press release.
Mrs. Rifat Sulatana Akram was also paid farewell in the programme.
Biswal commended the stewardship of Ambassador Qader to lead the Embassy to take the bilateral relations between US and Bangladesh to a new height. She highlighted the accomplishments made during the tenure of Ambassador.
In the introductory remarks, Selfridge termed it a sad duty to say good bye to a friend of US, Ambassador Qader, who served in DC for nearly five years with distinction.
Bangladesh envoy Qader thanked the US State Department for extending critical support to the Embassy which helped reach many high points, including the above accomplishments, in the bilateral relations between the two countries.
He thanked the State Department for the support the Embassy was provided with to engage the Bangladesh Diaspora in promoting both the interest of the US as well as Bangladesh in the host country.
Ambassador Qader expressed hope that the State Department would continue to provide necessary assistance to his successor.
