KHAGRACHARI: Police arrested Awami League leader Belal Uddin, 45, one of the planners of Fulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul Haque killing mission, from Matiranga upazila of the district early Thursday.

Matiranga Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Main Uddin Khan confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Main said, “Tipped-off, police nabbed Belal Uddin, former chairman of Adandapur Union Parisahd of Fulgazi upazila, from house of one Abul Bashar at Barnal Union of the upazila at 3:00am.”

The detainee is one of the main planners of Ekramul killing mission, added the OC, quoting Fulgazi police.

In a cinematic style, miscreants shot Ekramul, the upazila Awami League president, and burnt to death at his own car in front of Bilashi Cinema in Academy area of the district town on May 20.
