DHAKA: Domestic help Khadiza Akter Sumi, who was held in a case of SB Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman murder, was released on bail on Thursday.
Sumi’s lawyer Sayed Nazmul Huda said, “She has been released on bail after her mother Salma Begum submitted national identity card to the court.”
Earlier on May 20, a Dhaka court granted bail to Sumi but she did not get release as her mother-father failed to show their ID cards.
The girl, however, was handed over to her guardian at Gazipur Juvenile Correction Center.
On August 16, Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman, 48, and his wife Swapna Rahman, 40, were found dead at their Chamelibagh apartment. They were killed on August 14.
The bodies were found in Oishee’s, their daughter, bathroom and they bore several stab wounds, police said earlier.
