DHAKA: Bangladesh foreign affairs ministry strongly criticized Myanmar ambassador to Dhaka U Myo Myint Than on Saturday.

Earlier in the morning, ministry held a meeting with the envoy at state guest house Padma and expressed their protest for the incident of firing along the Bangladesh-Myanmar international border and detaining a member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) patrol team by Myanmar Border Guard Police.

The Myanmar envoy reached the Padma at 10:30am.

Meeting sources said that the envoy agreed that dead body of a BGB member remained in Myanmar troops’ hands.

Initiative will be taken soon to identify the body, the sources added.

Bangladesh foreign ministry warned the envoy not to happen this sort of unexpected incident in future.
