PABNA: Three local Awami League activists were shot dead and two others injured critically in Pushpapara Bazar area in the district town on Saturday night.

The deceased were identified as Sultan Hossain, 40, son of Kamal Sikder, resident of Sadar upazila, Fazlu, 35, son of Sadek Pramanik and Salam Mia, 38, son of Afchhar, residents of the area.

AL Organizing Secretary of Pabna Sadar upazila Sheikh Rasel Ali Masud claimed that BNP-Jamaat men might have killed them.

Sources said a gang of miscreants shot five AL men in the area around 8:30pm, leaving three dead on the spot and two others injured critically.

The injured were rushed to local hospital.

Police sources said that the killings might have been occurred over previous enmity.

Officer-in-Charge of Ataikula Thana Akram Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
