DHAKA: The cabinet approved in principle the draft of Foreign Donations (Voluntary activities) Regulation Act-2014 to ensure transparency in NGOs and voluntary organizations.

The approval came from the regular meeting of cabinet with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair at secretariat Monday.

Cabinet secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan made the disclosure to journalists after the meeting.

The draft has excluded political parties, Judges of Supreme Court, Parliament Members, public employee, candidates of parliament and local council election from the list who can get foreign donations.

The secretary also said that the act is a combination of two Army regime issued ordinances which will be applied to regulate the voluntary organizations or NGOs.
