JICA boss to address DU students on Jun 16

DHAKA: Akihiko Tanaka, the president of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), will address students, teachers, researchers and officials at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium of Dhaka University on June 16. 

According to a press release, issued on Friday, the session was finalized at a meeting held between Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique and JICA Senior Representative Kei Toyama on Friday at the VC’s official residence.

During the visit, the JICA boss would exchange views with DU authorities regarding JICA-supported programs and activities now going-on at Dhaka University. 

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently visited Japan and soon after her visit JICA President Akihiko Tanaka’s visit to Bangladesh specially Dhaka University is very much important and significant,” said DU VC Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique while exchanging views with JICA Senior Representative Kei Toyama.

Japan is our trusted friend and Japan has been providing all sorts of help and cooperations to various fields of Bangladesh since our independence. Japan is the largest donor country for us and the bilateral relation between the two friendly countries is excellent and this relationship is strengthening day by day, he added.
