BFA to be shifted at old airport!

DHAKA: Bangladesh Flying Academy (BFA), situated at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, the oldest flying training institution in Bangladesh which facilities to general aviation will have to be shifted from the country’s main airport by December 31. 

Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority sources confirmed the matter to banglanews. 

At present five hangers are situated at the south point of the airport. After removing Bangladesh Flying Academy, third terminal of the airport will be established at the same place. 

Civil Aviation Authority gave a short notice to BFA to transfer its establishments. 

It is known that BFA will be transferred to old airport area at Tejgaon in the capital.    

When contacted, civil aviation director Azad Jahirul Islam said for the sake of passengers’ facilities, the authority took the decision.  

Bangladesh Flying Academy was formed for conducting charter flight throughout the country, delivery aids to areas affected by natural disaster and most importantly providing flight training to the young aviators of Bangladesh.

East Pakistan Flying Club was formed in October 1948 by some Bangladeshi officers of the then East Pakistan government. After the independence of Bangladesh, all the pilots of Biman, GMG some pilots of BAF and army aviation was trained by Bangladesh Flying Academy & GA Ltd named in 1994. 

This Academy has been running since the last 65 years. It has trained so far 400 commercial pilots, 350 private pilots and 50 instructors as well as some engineers also. It is a non profit making organization.
