DHAKA: Communications minister Obaidul Quader said that the tender of much-waited metro-rail will be called in April next year.
The minister said during the inaugural ceremony of metro-rail depot development project in city’s Uttara area on Wednesday.
He said, appointment of consultancy firm for metro-rail project has been finalized.
TK22,000-crore is expected as cost while Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will give over TK16,000-crore and the government will provide the rest.
An accord with JICA has already been signed. The agency has given their nods to appoint consultant, the minister added.
Over 20km elevated railway is expected to connect Uttara, Pallabi, Mirpur-10, Agargaon, Farmgate, Karwanbazar, Shahbagh Gulistan and Matijheel in the city.
