SUNAMGANJ: Two minor boys drowned in separate incidents on Shalla upazila of the district on Wednesday.

The deceased were Riyad, 5, son of Abdur Rahman of Chhabbisha village and Palash, 3, son of Abdul Malek of Narkila village of the upazila.

Police said Riyad drowned in the pond while playing beside his house around 3:30 pm. Locals rescued him and rushed to the Shalla upazila Health Complex where the on duty doctor declared him dead.

Earlier in the day, Palash fell into a pond and died while playing around 11:00am.

Office-in-Charge of Shalla Thana Anisur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
