SATKHIRA: Forest robber kidnapped 15 fishermen along with two trawlers from Bahir Gang area near Madar River of west Sunderbans of the district on Thursday.

Some of the kidnapped are Rafiqul Gazi, son of Sultan Gazi, Akber Gazi, son of Barkat Gazi , Alim Gazi, son of late Mozam sarder and Matiar, son of Moksed gazi at Tengakhali village in  Shamnagat upzila.

Yusuf, who returned from robbers den after giving ransom, said the robbers kidnapped the fishermen along with trawlers to collect ransom. Shahid is the owner of a trawler.

The robbers threatened them that the body would be thrown in the river if their demand is not met, he added.

Assistant forest conservator Keramat Ali Mollik said they heard and they are looking into the incident.

Officer-in-Charge of Shyamnagar Police Station Aminul Islam told banglanews that no case was filed in this connection.
