DHAKA: Veteran photo journalist Jahirul Huq is critically ill and has been put on life support at a Delhi hospital in India since Thursday noon.

Earlier on June 5, he was admitted to Institute Of Liver And Biliary Sciences Hospital in New Delhi.

Jahirul has been suffering from complications for Hepatitis-C virus some days. He was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh medical University on May 14.

Later, physicians referred him to foreign hospital for better treatment as his condition deteriorated. 

Jahirul Haque was the personal photographer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He also founder president of photo journalist association and working at Dainik Ajkal of Kolkata as special Correspondent.

On April 17, 2006, police swung into an uncalled for action against the on-duty journalists, injuring at least 20 media-men, including veteran photojournalist Jahirul Haque, of different national dailies and satellite televisions at the Chittagong Divisional Stadium.

The incident of attack on journalists by law enforcers was condemned across the country.
