CHITTAGONG: Airport customs authority detained a man with 16 gold bars, weighing two kilograms, at Shah Amanat International Airport in the port city on Friday morning.

The detainee is Monjur Hossain, 24.

Confirming the matter Chittagong Customs Assistant Commissioner Othello Chowdhury told banglanews, “After scanning a table fan owned by a passenger of Air Arabia G-9521 flight, customs authority found the gold bars and seized those and held the man around 9:30am.”

The seized gold is worth about Tk80 lakhs, he added.
