NEW YORK: Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and US Department of State (DoS) assistant secretary for South and Central Asia Nisha Desai Biswal held a meeting on bilateral trade relation and labor rights on Thursday.

The DoS has provided details to banglanews in black and white on the meeting after the online news portal contacted to the authorities concerned.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed different bilateral and regional issues in details, in particular, enhancing trade relation between the two countries, workers’ health, improving work-environment, workers’ safety and rights in Bangladesh, according to the DoS.

On another meeting of Tofail with US Trade Representative Michael Froman, Andrew Bathos, press secretary of Michael, asked banglanews to contact to the Bangladesh Embassy in USA for comments.

Andrew told banglanews, “Forman’s office has no comments on the matter.”
