JOYPURHAT: A woman and her one-year-old son died when a muddy wall collapsed on them during a storm in Kasia Chapor village under Panchbibi upazila of the district on Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Julekha Begum, 30, wife of Azizul Haque of the village, and her baby boy Aman Ullah.

Local sources said, “Heavy rainfall and storm caused the wall collapse of their mud-built house, leaving them dead on the spot.”

Local Upazila Nirbahir officer Rafiqul Islam Selim said Joypuhat additional deputy commissioner Jakir Hossain, Nezrat Deputy Collector (NDC) Abu Raihan Dolon and Panchbibi Upazila Parishad Chairman visited the spot.

District administration announced to give Tk10,000 from government fund as emergency aid.
