DHAKA: Police detained 20 persons from Kalshi Bihari Camp in city’s Pallabi area on Saturday noon.
Earlier, at least 10 people, including four members of a family, were burnt to death when two groups of Bihari locked into clashes at that area early Saturday over blasting fireworks on the occasion of the holy Shab-e-Barat.
Sources said that police started the operation there from 12:15 noon.
They have detained 15 youths from the road besides of Mirpur DOHS area and later more five from the camp, sources added.
The identity of the detainee is yet to know.
However, the local is suspecting that 'stranded Pakistanis' are waiting there to protest police which may trigger fresh clash between two groups.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, Dhaka Metropolitan police Mirpur Zone deputy commissioner Imtiaz Ahmed said that following the clash, vehicle movement on roads in Kalshi and adjacent areas has been halted.
Witnesses told media that the clash erupted between them around 7:00am, which later spread into the locals and during the clash some houses were torched and looted, leaving scores injured.
Later, on information, police rushed in and are trying to bring the clash under control.
