Kidnapper ex-Major on remand

CHITTAGONG: A Chittagong court on Sunday placed former army personnel Arif Ahmed on a 2-day remand for police interrogation over attempt to kidnap a businessman.

Chittagong City Justice Sayed Mashfiqul Islam passed the order when Investigation Officer of the case Atiqul Islam, Sub-Inspector of Double Mooring Thana pleased for three-day remand.

Earlier, some miscreants in guise of RAB tried to kidnap a businessman, Golam Rabbani Moon, riding on a car on May 18 around 9:45 pm.

Hearing the scream, the mob detained Arif and handed him over to the police after a good beating. He introduced himself as a former army officer.

Later, Rabbani filed a case against 5/6 people including Arif with the police station.

The court rejected Arif’s bail petition for two times.
