DHAKA: Some six people were detained for their alleged involvement in gang rape in Ahmadnagar area under Mirpur of the city on Monday night.

Police also held a woman who allegedly helped the “rapists”.

The detainees Mahbub Ahad, Alamgir Hossain, Abu Bakar Siddique, Limon Anis Mahbub, Musa Mia, and Mahmuda Akhter, 22.

Sayedur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said the accused entered the victim’s house around 11:00pm in the guise of journalists and blamed her of drugs business, he added.

Sayedur Rahman also said, “At one stage they gang raped the girl.”

Later, police arrested the six alleged rapists as the victim filed a case with Mirpur Thana.

The detainees, in a primary investigation, introduced themselves as journalists of a newspaper ‘Ain-Adalat’.
