BD signs 3 deals with Cambodia

DHAKA: Three agreements and a memorandum of understanding (MoU)   between Bangladesh and Cambodia were signed on Tuesday. 

The signing ceremony was held at Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s office at 3:30pm. 

The agreements and MoU are Establishment of a Joint Commission for Promoting Bilateral Cooperation, Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments and Agreement on Cultural Cooperation.

The Memorandum of Understanding was inked on Scientific and Technical Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture.  

Earlier, the Cambodian premier met with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 

The two prime ministers discussed wide-ranging bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest. 

They reaffirmed their commitment to further deepen and strengthen the bilateral relations, which is rooted in the shared historical, religious and cultural linkages between two countries.

Both sides agreed to encourage greater high-level interactions to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries, particularly at high political and government officials as well as between academics, media, youth and sportsmen and cultural personalities etc.   

Sheikh Hasina applauded the achievements of Cambodia in socio-economic development of the country under the leadership of Hun Sen.

Hun Sen expressed his deep appreciation to Sheikh Hasina and to the people of Bangladesh for the warm welcome and gracious hospitality extended to him during the visit and extended an invitation to Sheikh Hasina to visit Cambodia at a mutually convenient time.

Earlier, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen arrived Dhaka on Monday morning in a three-day official visit.

He paid tribute and respect to the memory of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. 

He also visited the National Martyrs’ Memorial (Jatiya Smriti Soudha) at Savar and paid respect to the memory of the great freedom fighters of Bangladesh.
