1 held with 2.5kg gold at Shahjalal

DHAKA: Customs officials on Tuesday detained a person with 2.5 kilograms of gold bars worth about Tk 1.25 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The detainee is Khairul, 41, hailed from Kushtia.

Airport customs assistant commissioner Shamsul Arefin Khan confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Shamsul Arefin said, “Khairul arrived at the airport by a flight of Bangladesh Biman from Riyadh of Saudia Arabia. Acting on tip off, the officials searched his body while crossing the airport green channel and found the gold bars.”

Legal action would be taken against him, he added.
