NARAYNAGAJ: A balloon trader met a tragic death in a gas cylinder blast while washing the refill cylinder on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Kausar, 27, hailed from somewhere in Sylhet.

Locals source that Kausar, who had been engaged in balloon trading for a long time, was living at a rental house in Krishnapur of Araihajar Sadar area of the district.

They said, “The tragic incident occurred when the gas cylinder suddenly exploded while he was washing it at a pond in that area.”

Kausar died on the spot and many portions of his body were blown off as soon as the gas cylinder exploded, they added.

Araihajar Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain confirmed the matter.
