DHAKA: The customs authorities detained three people along with foreign currencies worth Tk 48 lakh from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday.

The detainees are M Karim, Zikir Miah, Azgar Ali.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Al-Amin of Airport Armed Police Battalion confirming the matter to banglanews said the trio were detained when Karim transferring the currencies over Zikir and Azgar.

Later, the officials seized $47,350 worth Tk 37.88 lakh and 10,055 Euro worth Tk 1.45 Lakh foreign currency from their possession.

Proper steps would be taken against them, the authorities added.
