Int’l workshop for Parliament Secys starts

DHAKA: A two-day long international workshop for Parliamentary Secretaries (PS) and officials of four countries under Asia Regional Association of Public Accounts Committees (ARAPAC) has started on Friday.

Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Maldives’s PS and officials are participating in the workshop organized by Strengthening Parliamentary Oversite (SPO) project aided by Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad in Ruposhi Bangla Hotel of the capital. 

Parliamentary Standing Committee president of Business Advisory Committee Abdul Matin Khasru MP inaugurated the program in the morning.

Khasru said ARAPAC plays a vital role exchanging the views and experience of MPs, in development and to stop corruption in the countries.

The organization also gives advice about economic security and cost management of public money.

Khasru also said the MPs sometimes don’t know the right way how to spend the budget and public money. ARAPAC play an important role in this regard.

Senior Secretary Md Ashraful Makbul of Parliament described the objectives of the workshop and project director and parliamentary Secretary AK Muhiuddin expressed about SPO project.

World Bank Representative Les Koizuma, South Asia Regional Representative Suraiya Jannat and PS of Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka joined the meeting.
