DHAKA: The chief of United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission and also Under-Secretary-General of UN Hervé Ladsous is scheduled to visit Bangladesh in the first week of July.
An inter-ministry source of foreign affairs ministry made the disclosure on Monday.
Members of United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission from Bangladesh have been serving worldwide for 24 years.
Bangladesh sent a group of 15 army personnel to the UN mission in 1988 first. Gradually, it has been recognized as the most troops sending country to UN.
Currently, 1,830 police and 6,605 army personnel from Bangladesh are serving the operations in the UN peacekeeping missions.
Foreign affairs ministry hopes that the visit of Hervé Ladsous will be fruitful and more Bangladeshi law enforcement agencies will be involved in missions of United Nations.
