$6,000 million foreign aids estimated

FROM PARLIAMENT: Government has estimated to get commitment of foreign aids of $6 thousand million for upcoming 2014-15 fiscal year from different countries and development organizations, says Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith.

Discussions on the foreign aids to the projects are still underway, he added.

The minister told National Parliament while answering independent MP Mohamad Rustam Ali at the ongoing budget session on Tuesday.

The minister said Bangladesh received three thousand 460 million USD foreign aids commitment till May in the current 2013-14 fiscal year.

Among the amount, two thousand 981.47 million USD is considered as loan while 478.53 million USD as donation, he added.

According to data provided by the finance minister, 49 projects out of 82 of upcoming 2014-15 fiscal years are dependent on foreign aids.

The rest 33 projects are dependent on foreign donation.

To another question of the MP, the minister said that per head foreign loan is 178.83 USD. The government pays 351.79 million USD every year as interest.

To a question of Mohammad Ilias, the finance minister said forex reserve in the country till June 16 was 21 thousand 38.20 million USD. It was 15 thousand 224.34 million USD in last year. The reserve has increased 6 thousand 713 million USD or 44.75 percent in a year.
