CHITTAGONG: Communications Minister Obaidul Quader cancelled upcoming Eid holiday for officials and employees of Roads and Highway Department (RHD) for the sake of smooth communications of lakhs of the people. 

The minister made the disclosure at a seminar at Theatre Institute of the port city on Thursday. 

Obaidul said that he will cancel Eid holiday for RHD officials and employees as they can take proper measures to keep highway’s traffic normal during Eid vacation. 

About Dhaka-Chittagong four lane highways, the minister said that about 72 kilometer works of the projects have already completed and rests of the work will be completed by December this year.  

A memorandum of understanding has been signed recently with China to build Karnafuly River tunnel, he added. 

Chittagong University Journalists Association (CUJA) organized the seminar on ‘Technology in 21st century’s journalism: Perspective Bangladesh’. 

Chittagong University vice-chancellor Anwarul Azim Arif inaugurated the programme where media personality Razib Mir and journalist Pranab Saha spoke among others.
