DHAKA: At least 13 people died and nine others injured in different incidents including road accidents, drowning and gas cylinder blast across the country on Friday.

Dhaka: Two pedestrians were killed and two others injured critically in a road accident in city’s Mirpur area in the afternoon.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital while the injured were rushed to local hospital.

Meanwhile, a gas cylinder blasted while refueling at Uttara area of the city leaving three people injured.

Besides, a quinquagenarian man was killed as a bus knocked him on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Tongi Station Road area early Friday.

Chittagong: A 20-year ole youth, Manju, son of one Mansur Ali, hailed from Boalkhali upazila of the district was killed in a head-on clash between a CNG-run-auto rickshaw and a battery-run-auto rickshaw at Shakpur Baruar Tek area of the upazila in morning.

Mymensingh: Three people were killed and two others injured in a head-on clash between two goods laden trucks on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Meherbari area of Bhaluka upazila of the district earlier Friday.

Of the deceased, Manirul Islam, 25, was identified as a businessman and other two were the driver and helper of one of the trucks.

Kustia: Two minors died and two others injured as lightning struck them at Dharampur union in Bheramara upazila of the district at noon.

The deceased were identified as Sayem, 8, son of one Humayun and Ivana, 11, daughter of one Abdul Jalil.

Comilla: Two minor boys drowned in a pond in Kalemsar village of Chandina upazila in the district on Friday.

The deceased were Nazmul, 8, son of a Bashar Miah of the village and Zian, 10, son of one Jahangir Alam of Madarpur village of the upazila.

Lakshmipur: A two-year old boy, Rahat Hossain, drowned in Charzangalia village in Kamalnagar upazila of the district at noon.

Tangail: An eight-year old boy was killed as lightning struck him at Katuli village in Sadar upazila of the district in the afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Shawon, 8, son of one Shahin Mia.
