BAGERHAT: Pirates abducted 40 fishermen and hijacked a trawler from Takdia and Laldia area of the Bay of Bengal early Friday. 

Quoting some returned fishermen Saramkhola upazila National Fishermen’s Association chairman Abul Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Witnesses said that some pirates numbering 20/25 came with a trawler and attacked the fishermen who were catching fish in the sea at night.

Later, they kidnapped at least 40 of them and took a trawler.

While contacted to Bangladesh Coast Guard they count not confirmed the matter till filing this report at 7:00 pm.
