Nur on 14-day fresh remand

KOLKATA: A West Bengal court on Monday placed Nur Hossain, the prime accused of sensational Narayanganj 7-murder, and his two accomplices, on a 14-day fresh remand.

Earlier, they were remanded for 8-day and 14-day in phases.

On the same day, Nur Hossain denied his involvement in the murder. 

He made the assertion when police produced him, with his two accomplices, before an Indian court in Barasat of West Bengal in the noon, local media reports.

He said before the court that he has no involvement with sensational Narayanjganj 7-murder.

Nur Hossain said that there that he had been victimized in the killing incidents.

He also told the court that he didn’t come to India by being forced by anyone.

Sources said that Bidhannagar Police Commissioner will place its statement to prove Nur Hossain as illegal intruder.

However, the court asked Nur Hossain and his two accomplices to appear before the court on July 21 next.

According to the rules, charge sheet have to be submitted within 90-day after he was detained.

Besides, specific information has to be proved that he was Bangladesh otherwise there is a possibility that Nur Hossain would be released.

On June 23, a court in India’s West Bengal state placed Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the multiple murders at Narayanganj, and his two accomplices on a 14-day fresh remand. 

On June 16, a day after, the three were arrested from Indraprastha Apartment in Baguiati near Kolkata's Netaji Subhas airport. Later, they were sent on an eight-day police remand.

The absconding Narayanganj councilor, prime accused in the multiple murders case, was booked under Arms Act and Foreigners Act for illegal trespass into Indian Territory without valid travel document and for illegal possession of a weapon.
