DHAKA: A new private airline styled Regent Airways is expected to hit the country’s fast-growing passenger aviation market in June.

Capt. Alimuzzaman, Flight Operation Director of Regent Airways, told banglanews24.com they are hopeful about the launch of flight operation within a very short time.

“With the key priority to ensure best-quality service for passengers, we will fly domestic routes first,” said, Imran Asif, CEO of the Regent Airways. “Besides, the airline will go for international flight two or three months after domestic operation is launched.’’

The Flight Operation Director said the company bought two 50-seater Dash-8 aircraft from a European company for making trips on domestic routes and the eastern Indian city of Kolkata.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh has issued 'no-objection certificate' to the Regent allowing it to procure aircraft, set up infrastructure and hire officials, he added.

Within 5 months they will also collect one Boeing-757 aircraft and one Boeing 767 to operate international flights, said Capt. Alimuzzaman.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Chief Executive Officer Jakiul Islam said, “We always welcome the penetration of private airlines as the country's aviation industry has huge potential. It will create competition among the local private airlines.”

Of the country’s private airlines, United Airways spread its wings in 2008 while GMG Airlines in 1998. Best Air and Royal Bengal of Aviana Airways now lay grounded, however.
