JESSORE: A listed terrorist was killed and two cops injured in a gunfight in Sharsha upazila early Saturday. 

The deceased was identified as Anisur Rahman, 30, resident of Balia village of Satkhira.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Officer-in-Charge of Sharsha Thana Ahmed Kabir said, “Anirsur was arrested from the capital on Friday. Later in interrogation he gave information to police about his cohorts and arms in Jessore.”

“On early Saturday, police and detectives conducted a joint drive in Basatpur of Jessore taking him with them. Sensing presence of law enforcers, his cohorts opened fire and blasted bombs, and fled the scene.”

At that time police also opened fire for defence, leaving Anisur dead and two police constables injured, he added.

Police sent the body to Jessore Medical College Hospital.
