CHITTAGONG: A Chittagong court on Sunday granted five days in a fresh remand to a director of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited, M Soliman, in a loan embezzlement case filed with Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Chittagong Chief Metropolitan Magistrate M Moshiur Rahman handed down the order. The court also granted a seven-day remand to Soilman in the same case on July 3.
ACC special public prosecutor Advocate Mahmudul Haque Mahmood told banglanews: “ACC assistant director Rafiqul Islam, also IO of case, sought 10 days remand to Solaim and the court granted five days after conducting the hearing.”
On April 13, the bank filed a case with Kotwali Thana of the port city accusing Soliman, the former chairman of the bank, of embezzling Tk 140 crore. The case was later scheduled with the ACC.
On June 26, ACC in a special drive led by Rafiqul arrested Soliman from Akram Tower in Bijoynagar area of capital Dhaka.
