DHAKA: The law enforcers have decided to arrest Mirpur Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Salauddin over the murder of Mahbubur Rahman Sujan, a Jhut (garments waste) trader of the area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) official sources said this to banglanews on Monday.

The sources said that police have been facing criticism after the death of Sujan in police custody.

Earlier police arrested Sub-Inspector (SI) Jahid of the Thana and his informer Nasim Sheikh but three other including a SI remain fugitive.

On July 17, a court placed Jahid and Nasim on 5-day remand.

Sujan’s wife Mamtaz Sultana Lucy filed a case on Sunday naming OC Salauddin as main accused.

However, additional deputy police commissioner Jasim Uddin said he had no information about the arrest.

Though, a police officer of Mirpur Zone said he went to the High Court regarding a case.
