DHAKA: A suspected thief was beaten to death by a mob in Badda Thana area of the capital on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Robiul, 25, son of Anwar, hailed from Brahmanbaria.

Badda Thana Sub-Inspector Rahmat Ali said that Robiul went to steal at the residence of one Jahangir in Badda Alatunnesa around 5:00am. Then locals caught him and beat up him mercilessly, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was rushed to Badda General Hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.
