MAKKAH: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia performed Umrah at the holy Kaba Sharif in Makkah early Wednesday along with her son Tarique Rahman, daughter-in-law Dr Jobaida Rahman and grand daughter Jaima Rahman.
Sources told banglanews that they completed the Tawaf, circumambulating the Kaba seven times in a counterclockwise direction around 3:00am starting from 1:15am.
At that time BNP chairperson used trolley for her early injury while others performed the Tawaf on their foot, sources added.
However, later, she offered Fajr prayers at Masjid Al-Haram and prayed for the peace, progress and prosperity of Bangladesh and its people as well as the unity and solidarity of the Muslim Ummah.
Earlier, the BNP chief left Medina for Makkah in a domestic flight on Tuesday.
Sources informed that she will be staying at a royal place in Makkah with her entourage as the former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman have been visiting Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Saudi King.
Besides, Tarique Rahman’s wife and daughter, BNP leader Mosaddek Ali Falu, BNP chief’s personal photographer Nuruddin Ahmed Nuru, Saudi Arabia's western unit of BNP president Ahmad Ali Muqib, leader Shahidul Islam Nannu, Makkah BNP regional president Maulana Rafiqul Islam, Makkah city BNP president Ferdous Chowdhury and other local leaders and activists were there.
