LONDON: Britain Foreign Secretary Douglas Garven Alexander has expected Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s firm role in the upcoming climate change summit, scheduled to be held in Paris in 2015.
The British came up with his expectation to the Bangladeshi premier when called on her at Hotel Hilton at 4:00pm (local time) on Tuesday.
Foreign secretary Shahidul Haque and prime minister’s press secretary AKM Shamim Chowdury briefed this to the reporters after the meeting.
Douglas Alexander praised Sheikh Hasina’s active role in Copenhagen climate change summit and wanted will she play the same role in the next summit.
In reply PM Sheikh Hasina reiterated Bangladesh stance on climate issue and expressed dissatisfaction over developed county’s role and subsidy on climate change.
The prime minister added Bangladesh is working in its own action way on climate change issue.
Sheikh Hasina also informed the Britain foreign minister that Bangladesh will join in the climate change affair summit scheduled to be held in New York in September called by UN Secretary General Ban K-moon.
When Douglas wanted to know about latest political situation of Bangladesh Hasina told him that everything is now under control and normal after January 5 polls.
The British minister appraised Bangladesh’s position as it has earned a good chunk in economic sector, the press briefing added.
