DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed SI Jahid and police source Nasim on 4-day fresh remand for interrogation over killing of jhut businessman Sujon in police custody on July 12.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mizanur Rahman placed the order after holding a hearing at noon.

Earlier in the day, Nibaran Chandra Barman, an officer of Detective Branch (DB) of police produced SI Zahid and police source Nasim to the court with a 10-day fresh remand plea after 5-day remand.

On July 15, police arrested SI Zahid for his alleged involvement with the murder of jhut businessman Mahbubur Rahman Sujon and on July 17, court placed him on 5-day remand.

On July 12, Mirpur Thana Police held businessman Mahbubur Rahman Sujon from his Dhanmondi residence and recovered two magazines and ten bullets.

Sujon’s cousin Apu Chaklader alleged that after detaining Sujon police beat him to death in the thana.
