CHITTAGONG: A fire gutted 13 shops on Thursday morning at Chaktai in the port city.

Fire service unit of Agrabad said on information, four units of fire service rushed in and brought the flames under control within two and a half hours of hectic efforts.

The fire originated at about 6:30 am from electric short circuit at a shop and soon engulfed the adjoining business establishments.

The affected shop owners put the extent of loss in fire at Tk 30 lakh.

The gutted shops included poultry feeds, stationeries, phone faxes, groceries and bakeries.
