DHAKA: The first round of consultation on the initiative to draft new National Seed Policy was held in city on Friday.
Seed Wing of Ministry of Agriculture was leading the initiative to draft the policy through Seed Regulatory Reform Committee (SRRC), said a press release.
The committee, led-by Anwar Faruque, additional secretary, also DG Seed Wing, comprises of 19-member from relevant public and private sector representatives in seed sector.
A series of consultation conducted to review the current policy provisions and recommendations were discussed in detail.
According to the organizers, the revised policy is expected to improve regulatory environment of seed sector, enhance trade and foster private sector growth in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Investment Climate Fund, managed by IFC, in partnership with the UK Government and EU, is supporting Ministry of Agriculture for this reform, the release added.
