DHAKA: A snatcher was beaten to death in Wari area of the city on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Sazzadur Rahman Robin, 24, son of one Saifur Rahman, resident of the area.

Oolice sources said local people and passersby caught Robin while fleeing after snatching some Tk 130,000 from a trader and beaten him black and blue around 11:30am.

However, Robin was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 12:30pm.

Uncle of the deceased Taufiqur Rahman Tutul claimed that his nephew was innocent but police led the killing of Robin.

Sub-Inspector of Wari Thana Anwar Hossain refused the allegations brought against them.

Officer-in-Charge of Wari Thana, Tapan Chandra Saha confirmed the matter to banglanews.
