ROM DHAKA CMM COURT: Nasim Sheikh, source of Bangladesh Police, admitted his guilt on Thursday in connection with the custodial death of a scrap-cloth dealer.

He along with police Jahidur Rahman Jahid, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Mirpur Thana, was produced before a Dhaka court to give their confessional statement.

Later, SI Jahid did not give his statement and then Magistrate Snigdha Rani placed him on two-day remand in response to plea of DB police.

Sources told banglanews that police source Nasim confessed to Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Ashok Kumar Dutta.

Earlier, the two were grilled for a total of nine days in three phases.

On July 16, Jahid and Nasim were arrested on charge of torturing Mahabubur Rahman Sujon to death at the Mirpur Police Station.

Police filed a case the following day, accusing eight people, including Jahid and Nasim. Of the six other accused, three are Mirpur Police Station officials and the rest, police informers.

Meanwhile, victim Sujon’s wife filed a case with a Dhaka court, accusing 10 people, including SI Jahid and Mirpur police OC Salauddin.

The court has ordered a judicial investigation into the allegations.
