DHAKA: After the Eid vacation, the vacationers have started returning to Dhaka leaving their families and friends behind.
A huge crowd was seen on Saturday at city’s Sadarghat Launch Terminal, one of the prime gateways to Dhaka, rather than the crowds on Thursday and Friday.
Offices will be open from Sunday. So, a large number of vacationers had anchored at Sadarghat since Saturday morning.
The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has increased naval surveillance for the safety of the passengers who are returning to Dhaka through waterways.
For the first time, BIWTA allotted helicopters at four points to patrol the waterways to ensure safety of the passengers.
The surveillance measures have been taken to ensure safe journey and to prevent the overloaded transportation as well as the accidents in waterways.
BIWTA joint-director Julfa Khanam said the measures have been taken for the safety of waterway passengers. Expressing her happiness she said that the vacationers have reached Dhaka safely till now.
‘I hope the people will return to Dhaka unharmed on Sunday too,’ she added.
