DHAKA: The mysterious pistol, which was recovered from an abandoned car hit by a train on Friday at city’s Malibagh rail crossing area, belongs to Noor Hossain, the prime accused of Narayanganj 7-murder case, claimed police.

Government Railway Police (GRP) Kamalapur Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Mazid told banglanews on Saturday afternoon that they confirmed after bringing the license of the pistol from Narayanganj district administration office.

Earlier, two arms licensed against the name of Nur Hossain, went missing, he added. 

Later, police knew that the pistol is one of them creating suspense as the injured people went missing and the firearms found in the car.

“We are, now, looking into the matter how the pistol came to the car,” the OC said.

Moreover, police also claimed that they had already spotted a suspect who had been taking treatment in city’s Apollo Hospitals.

OC Abdul Mazid said the suspect is now in the hospital under police custody.

On Friday afternoon, the train Chattala Express, which was heading for Kamalapur Railway Station, dragged a car at Malibagh rail crossing area leaving three injured.

But, the people in the car went missing and police recovered a pistol with bullets from the car.

From then on police was searching for the missing people.

Nur Hossain, a councilor in Narayanganj City, fled the country days after the abduction of the seven people, including Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Sarkar on April 27.

Nazrul’s wife filed an abduction case against Nur on April 28.

Later, bodies of the abducted people were recovered from Shitalakshya River on April 30.
