DHAKA: Police have been preventing the Tuba workers to enter in their factories at Hossain Market in city’s Badda area on Thursday.

The law enforcers also deter them to stand in the road.

The workers have been continuing hunger strike to press home their 5-point demand including to give the wage in the factory.

Earlier, Tuba Group Sramik Sangram Committee called for demonstration on Thursday and Friday and threatened for strike on Saturday if authorities don’t meet their demand.

Some 100 workers tried to enter the factory in the morning but police obstruct them. Later, they protested against the behavior taking position on the road.

Nazma, a garment worker, demanded that they want to receive their salary from the Tuba factory.

Some 1,600 workers have been demonstrating from last 11 days demanding to pay their due of three-month salary, bonus and overtime.

Alleging the workers, who took the salary from the BGMEA, are the workers of Tazrin factory, the workers said they are the brokers of the Tuba factory owners.

Officer-in-charge MA Jalil of Badda Police Station said they are taking position in the area to avert any unwanted situation.

Till filing the reports, the workers remained scattered in the area.
